Red Blends of Livermore Valley to Drink Now
Wine blending is the art of combining different grape varieties to create a particular flavor profile. It’s an important step during winemaking to produce a unique and complex wine, as each variety brings its own set of characteristics to the blend. Winemakers strive for balance, using their knowledge of how certain grapes interact with one another to craft a harmonious final product. Red blends are known for their exciting and intricate flavor profiles. A combination of flavors can be much more diverse than any single variety could offer, allowing for greater complexity and depth in the resulting taste. For example, a red blend may include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Zinfandel or Petite Sirah which all bring their own unique flavors to the mix such as berry notes from Cabernet Sauvignon or spice from Syrah. This allows for endless possibilities when creating distinct and delicious red blends. International Syrah Day
International Syrah day celebrates the bold, full bodied varietal with a unique and complex blend of flavors. Syrah explodes with notes of cracked black pepper, smoky bacon, dark blackberries, and cassis. The tannins are typically structured yet soft on the finish. Livermore Valley’s warm climate and rocky soil produces intensely flavored wines that are perfect for aging. Syrah is best enjoyed with hearty grilled meats, such as steak or lamb, as well as bold cheeses like camembert and blue cheese. Its robust flavor makes it ideal for sipping solo or pairing with food.

The Association is dedicated to advance, protect and promote the region’s quality wines, vineyards and experiences. Our collective decision for a new name and look was made to better reflect the community of growers and vintners in Livermore Valley and their dedication to being a destination that intersects incredible wines with family-style hospitality.

Actually, the word “terroir” means “soil” in French and when you’re talking about a wine-growing region, otherwise known as a “Viticultural Area,” the soil is of utmost importance. The French use the phrase “gout de terroir” when speaking of certain wines. It translates to “taste of the soil” and no, it doesn’t mean that the wine taste like dirt, it refers to that rich, earthy flavor that some wines carry.
