"A generous wine community raising funds for children's charities." The Livermore Valley Winegrowers Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, raises funds to improve the quality of life for local underserved children. The Foundation has donated over $3 million to charities in its 15-year history. Wine auction events are produced in conjunction with the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association, the support from generous sponsors and the helping hands of countless volunteers. Our current Beneficiaries are listed below. Annual Winegrowers Auction With hopes of bringing more joy, health, music, and laughter into the lives of children in need, the Foundation hosts an annual spring time event that raises funds for local children's charities.
Easter Seals Kaleidoscope After-School Program The program offers a comprehensive and creative approach to education, recreation and socialization for youth ages 5 to 22 years with disabilities and developmental delays. Easter Seals Kaleidoscope is a home-away-from-home for kids with special-needs, offering a nurturing environment that prepares them for independence through age-appropriate, activities and positive peer interaction. Easter Seals Kaleidoscope prevents early institutionalization and keeps families intact by enabling caregivers to recharge emotionally and physically so that they are prepared to care for their child with a disability. Through Easter Seals Kaleidoscope, children with developmental disabilities can move higher and farther than ever thought. Community college, jobs, and even away-from home living are all within reach. Oakland East Bay Symphony MUSE Program Under the artistic leadership of Music Director Michael Morgan, the Symphony has become a leader in music education for young people, bringing orchestral music into schools throughout Oakland and the East Bay through the MUSE (MUSic for Excellence) program. Morgan established and expanded the Young People's Concerts, the Ensembles-in-the-Schools program, the Side-By-Side Concert, and the Young Artist Competition. Morgan, a nationally known arts educator and advocate himself, visits approximately 50 elementary, middle and high schools, reaching over 3,300 children each year; orchestra musicians also visit the schools, offering lecture/demonstration, workshops and performances. A major accomplishment was the implementation of the MUSE Program (MUSic for Excellence) in 1998-99, which provides comprehensive music education in grades K-12 and serves 3,200 students in 18 East Bay schools. Children's Skin Disease Foundation (CSDF) CSDF established Camp Wonder, a medically-staffed summer camp to provide children who would be unable to attend any other camp due to their often untreatable diseases of the skin an opportunity to laugh, play and just be children. The camp is held at Camp Arroyo's facilities in Livermore, CA. At camp, children participate in a wide variety of activities including swimming, boating, arts and crafts, games, fishing, horse-back riding, skit night and much more. CSDF sponsors the only camp in the Western United States serving children with skin disease. Camp Wonder serves children and the families of children with skin diseases who are ages 7 - 16. Teenagers interested in community service, and retired volunteers who reside in the area help us make this camp a reality. The volunteer medical staff for CSDF camps is primarily comprised of doctors, residents and nurses from major medical schools in California. The Children's Skin Disease Foundation is proud to bring childhood to life for these deserving children. ValleyCare Foundation's Mobile Health Unit California leads the nation in the highest number of people without health insurance (more than 21%). Many Tri-Valley residents fall into the categories of being uninsured or underinsured, and out of desperation, are increasingly turning to emergency rooms for their medical care. These neighbors in our community, and their children, go without basic checkups, immunizations and preventative care. To further add to the problem, they are also three to four times more at risk because they frequently don't seek care until easily treatable problems become serious. To help address this crisis, ValleyCare Health System and the Rotarian Foundation of Livermore have collaborated to bring a Mobile Health Unit to provide these basic health needs to the children how need them most.
