{"id":374,"date":"2016-08-01T12:00:33","date_gmt":"2016-08-01T19:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.lvwine.org\/blog\/?p=374"},"modified":"2016-08-15T23:37:36","modified_gmt":"2016-08-16T06:37:36","slug":"and-the-winners-are","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lvwine.org\/blog\/and-the-winners-are\/","title":{"rendered":"And the Winners Are&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to the winners of Thursday night\u2019s Annual Quest for Pairing Excellence and thank you to everyone who participated!\u00a0 Let\u2019s not delay\u2026 here are the winners who make your cooking look like it needs improvement, or is that just me?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Judges Best Pairing \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/wentevineyards.com\/\">Wente Vineyards<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wentevineyards.com\/restaurant\">The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This team may have had the upper edge, I mean, who knows the wine better than their own restaurant?\u00a0 But their pairing of the 2014 Small Lot Serenity with berkshire pork sausage with bing cherry mostarda and Riesling fermented kraut ensured that they were ready for victory!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Classic Pairing \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rmwinery.com\/\">Rodrigue Molyneaux Winery<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ganrestaurant.com\/\">Gan<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lvwine.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/334.jpg\"><img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lvwine.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/334-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"-334\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>The team paired their 2013 Chateau Molyneaux Merlot with wedding cheeks with a charred Korean pepper soubise, crisp potato and pickled red daikon.\u00a0 Difficult to imagine it all together, but this definitely had us going back for more!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Most Innovative \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/danterobere.com\/\">Dante Robere Vineyard<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lazydogrestaurants.com\/\">Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lvwine.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/341.jpg\"><img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lvwine.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/341-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"-341\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>This team paired their 2013 Roberitage, 50% Syrah 50% Cabernet Sauvignon with minced chicken in lettuce spears with a sweet hoisin sauce. Oh my!\u00a0 One of the best things about this dish was that it was delicious and savory without being heavy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lvwine.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/70.jpg\"><img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lvwine.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/70-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"-70\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>Our panel of judges consisted of Linda Carruci, Culinary Instructor and Author, Fred Swan, Wine Writer &amp; Educator at San Francisco Wine School and Deborah Parker Wong Journalist &amp; Educator for The Tasting Panel, SOMM Journal and Clever Root.\u00a0 While they may be the experts, our guests voted the following as their favorites.<\/p>\n<p><strong>People\u2019s Choice Red Wine Pairing \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcgrailvineyards.com\/\">McGrail Vineyards and Winery<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/beetshospitality.com\/\">Beet\u2019s Hospitality Group<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lvwine.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/McGrail-1.jpg\"><img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lvwine.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/McGrail-1.jpg\" alt=\"McGrail\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>This team paired the Cabernet Sauvignon with a 12-hour house smoked dry rub brisket with homemade smoky paprika pimento cheese in a crispy risotto shell.\u00a0 And let me tell you, every hour that was put into this pairing was worth it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>People\u2019s Choice White Wine Pairing \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.longevitywines.com\/\">Longevity Wines<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/johnnygarlics.com\/dublin\/\">Johnny Garlic\u2019s<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lvwine.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/368.jpg\"><img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lvwine.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/368-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"-368\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>This team paired their 2015 Pinot Blanc with a won ton taco with Ahi tuna, mango jicama salsa, wasabi cream, and eel sauce.\u00a0 It was truly amazing and perfectly fresh for a warm summer\u2019s night.<\/p>\n<p>Again, thank you to everyone who attended and participated.\u00a0 We hope that we\u2019ll see you out at our participating restaurants and wineries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Save the date for next year: Taste Our Terroir will be held July 19<sup>th<\/sup>-23<sup>rd<\/sup>, 2017.\u00a0 Cheers!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to the winners of Thursday night\u2019s Annual Quest for Pairing Excellence and thank you to everyone who participated!\u00a0 Let\u2019s not delay\u2026 here are the winners who make your cooking look like it needs improvement, or is that just me?
