Barrel Tasting Weekend<\/a> is taking on a new artistic flare. A total of 15 Livermore Valley wineries partnered with local artists to design one of a kind, hand painted wine barrels to create the first ever Painted Barrel Trail<\/u>. \u00a0We are so thankful to all of the incredible artists that helped bring this program to life, so we thought we would introduce you to a few of them! Anne Giancoloa with Concannon Vineyard<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Anne has been a decorative artist since 1994. She does decorative painting, faux finishing (including marble, wood graining and wall glazing), murals and painted furniture. Anne leads her clients through a creative process that produces an articulate vision, the seed of her successful rooms. A graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, Anne has a strong art background that lends depth and realism to her work. Contact Anne to discuss ways to create surroundings you love! Vera Lowdermilk with Omega Road Winery<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Vera has worked on several large murals in the Bay Area, including San Francisco and Livermore. You can find her \u201cFirefighters Parade\u201d mural on First Street in downtown Livermore.\u00a0 Vera has over 25 years of experience in mural painting, as well as portraiture.\u00a0 She has self-published a book of illuminated prayers and is currently working on a children\u2019s book as well.<\/p>\n

Ben Fish with Wood Family Vineyards<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ben has been working at Wood Family Vineyards as the cellar master for over 2 years. He is an East Bay Area native, born in Antioch, raised in Oakley, now living and working in Livermore. When he isn\u2019t pouring in the tasting room or assisting in the winemaking process, Ben is developing his art. Landscapes have been his focus in recent years, inspired both by travel and the landscape of his home region. Ben\u2019s work has appeared in SFSU\u2019s Transfer Magazine, and SJSU\u2019s Reed Magazine. IG: @ben.fish.art<\/p>\n

Claire Alday & Melinda Salerno with Page Mill Winery<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Claire studied art\u00a0at Ventura college & San Francisco State University. She has taught to people of all ages, from kindergarteners to senior adults. Claire has been able to use her creative talents in many facets of the community from murals, to senior classes, to helping at the elementary school.\u00a0 \u201cIt is always a joy to capture the beauty of God\u2019s creation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Melinda Salerno studied Graphic Art and Design. She has been leading the art program for the Livermore homeschooling community for the past 4 years, and you can also find her\u00a0teaching classes at Pinot’s Palette art studio\u00a0in Livermore. Melinda also spends her time\u00a0painting murals and teaching art for children and adults after school.\u00a0Her motto: \u201cThink with your heart, color outside the lines” inspires students to express their true selves and unleash their creativity.<\/p>\n

Mackenzie has been drawing, dabbling, and doodling since before she could walk. In high school, she discovered her passion for painting on non-traditional shapes and surfaces, painting everything she could get her hands on from canvas shoes to grandfather clocks. Mackenzie still loves to paint unique projects whenever she can, \u201cThe more interesting, funky, and fun the requirements- the better!\u201d<\/p>\n

Lela Witherspoon & the Art Students of Del Valle High School with Fenestra Winery<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The theme of this amazing barrel is a mix of nature and inspiration. \u201cGreat things take time to grow.\u201d and \u201cStorms make trees take deeper roots\u201d are nestled in to branches, but there is so much more to it. The art style is loosely based on Keith Haring.<\/p>\n

Plein Air Painter’s with Charles R Vineyards<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Charles R Plein Air Patio Painter\u2019s Lorraine Wells, Cheri Newkirk, Dorothy Maestas, Mary Jane Hassmann and Bonnie Bartlett joined together to paint the Charles R wine barrel inside their Tasting Room. Painting the barrel was an intriguing project that the artists enjoyed being a part of.<\/p>\n

Girl Scout Troop 30309 with Dante Robere Vineyards<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The blossoming artists of Girl Scout Troop 30309 took a break from their orderly duties, to create this one of a kind barrel.<\/p>\n

Art Students at Village High School with Mitchel Katz Winery<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Village High School is what some may call the \u201cbest kept secret\u201d among Pleasanton\u2019s high achieving schools.\u00a0 Receiving the esteemed award of Model Continuation High School in 2017, Village High School\u2019s mission is to support students\u2019 individual growth towards achieving their personal academic, character and career goals. Two of the students who designed this barrel are Amber Fornoles and Lauren Bach.<\/p>\n

Amber is a Senior at Village high school. In her spare time, she competitively swims, listens to music, and makes ceramics. Lauren, 16, is a junior at Village High School. She spends most of her time drawing on her computer and sketching at school<\/p>\n

Laina Carter with McGrail Vineyards and Winery<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

You can normally find Laina working at McGrail Vineyards, but in her free time she likes explore her artistic side.\u00a0Laina designed this barrel to be a rough map of Livermore that highlights the most iconic and historical spots in the city. It also features some interesting facts and stories about the various people and places that have shaped Livermore\u2019s rich history.<\/p>\n

This is just a preview – there are many other talented artists that participated in The Painted Barrel Trail. So, grab some friends and explore the trail this weekend!\u00a0 Visitors will also have the opportunity to take home their favorite painted barrel by participating in the Painted Barrel Trail Raffle. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $20 a piece or 6 for $100, and you can find them inside the participating wineries\u2019 tasting rooms, and at the Livermore Valley Winegrower’s Association office.
